Hope you got a chance to visit the Baltimore Book Festival over the weekend. For once, the weather cooperated, and there was little rain to dampen the spirits. At the CityLit panel I moderated with local authors Susi Wyss (“The Civilized World”) and Eric D. Goodman (“Tracks”), it was refreshing to see so many people interested in books on an afternoon when the Ravens were getting ready to play.

Susi and Eric provided some insight into writing a series of inter-woven short stories, and pulling them all into a coherent book. If you missed the session, you can get some tips from Eric from 5 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Max’s Taphouse in Fells Point, at a better-late-than-never release party.

After the panel, I got home in time to see Torrey Smith catch the second and third of his touchdown passes in the Ravens’ rout. Then it was on to my book club, to discuss “This is Where I Leave You,” by Jonathan Tropper. Talk about going from the sacred to the profane — and back again! But all in all, a great day
