Pikes Peak Community Foundation home of fundraising efforts designed
to secure a permanent facility and an effective platform for fundraising
From a press release received Monday: In its 31-year history, the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony Association has produced musical miracles for aspiring young musicians in Colorado. The program has provided a strong artistic foundation while offering lifelong lessons in camaraderie and cooperation for its participants. At this time the Youth Symphony’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce a new initiative that will assure that the organization’s mission will thrive and survive for generations to come.
”We are extremely excited to announce the creation of the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony Foundation,” said Herman Tiemens, Treasurer of the Board of Directors. “It will help to assure all of us that our mission of developing talented young people and creating great music will have a permanent home here in Colorado Springs.”
Three key goals that have driven the creation of the Foundation. First and most prominent is to provide a platform for the Youth Symphony to raise the funds needed to acquire and maintain a dedicated facility. This will provide a space for rehearsal, coaching, private instruction and performance. The Foundation will also act as a means to solidify all future fundraising efforts. This will ultimately assure a sound financial basis for current and future programs.
“Like most non-profits, we establish a budget that focuses on funding our fiscal year programs.” said Debi Krause- Reinsch, Youth Symphony’s Executive Director. “I can’t give enough credit to our current Board of Directors for the effort they have put forth to create this Foundation. Our entire program will benefit greatly from the structure they have put in place.”
The Foundation will be launched with a great head start. An anonymous donor has pledged a six-figure contribution which will help to create immediate credibility for the Board’s initiative. “This individual has exhibited a rare commitment and passion for the youth in our community,” said Krause-Reinsch. “He and his wife have been longtime supporters of our program and came to us offering this contribution. Their generosity absolutely inspired our efforts to make this Foundation become a reality.”
“My hat’s off to the Youth Symphony Association for their great work and commitment,” said Michael Hannigan, Executive Director of the Pikes Peak Community Foundation under whose aegis the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony Association Foundation will operate. “This is the kind of project we are in existence to make happen. I expect a highly successful future for these efforts.”
The official announcement of the new Foundation was made on Sunday, May 1 at the Youth Symphony’s two Spring Concerts at the Pikes Peak Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Colorado Springs. A letter had been sent out to the entire Youth Symphony family promising that a long term planning strategy would be announced at the concerts. Two near-capacity audiences responded to the news with rousing ovations.
“We on the Board know that our time serving as custodians for the Youth Symphony program will come to an end at some point,” said Samantha Davis, current President of the Board of Directors. “But having had the opportunity to realize this project means that we will have left our mark on children in Southern Colorado for generations to come. Personally, I couldn’t be more proud.”
