NEW YORK (AP) — HBO will broadcast a documentary about Derek Jeter’s pursuit of career hit No. 3,000.
Major League Baseball Productions is following the Yankees captain for a one-hour special called “Derek Jeter 3K.” The network said Tuesday that Jeter agreed to let camera crews follow him at home and while he was rehabilitating a recent calf injury.
The documentary will include new interviews with family, friends and teammates. Also interviewed will be Jeter’s girlfriend, Minka Kelly, and Yankees managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner. The program will air a few weeks after Jeter reaches the milestone.

Man, was 2001 really ten years ago? I remember back then, the 08th MS Team kits were showing up on American toy shelves. I got the Gouf Custom in the fall that year, and boy did I love it. I remember back then we still considered kits from the 0080 line–released twelve years ago at that point—to be good kits. I guess we never expected to see them outdone. Now that the nasally challenged Lord Voldemort has zapped back into theaters in the final “Harry Potter” flick, it’s a good time to chart some of our favorite movie villains.
Being evil and despicable isn’t enough. The character needs to make us buy into in him/her while also dreading him/her. Most of all, they need to serve their purpose: make us cheer more for the downtrodden hero.
The “Harry Potter” series overflows with villains, so does James Bond. Prison wardens are a go-to standard. Villains are good for business. But when charting the baddest of the bad, it also helps to decide who is the genuine Darth Vader.
Freddy and Jason are more killing machines than villains.

HBO’s potboiler miniseries “Mildred Pierce” and AMC’s stalwart “Mad Men” led the pack as nominations for the 63rd annual prime-time Emmy awards were announced Thursday morning in Los Angeles.
“Pierce,” based on the James M. Cain novel, racked up 21 nods, including nominations for Kate Winslet as best actress in the title role, as well as for Guy Pearce, Brian F. O Byrne, Mare Winningham and Oscar-winner Melissa Leo in supporting roles. “Mad Men” earned 19 nominations, including recognition for Elisabeth Moss and Jon Hamm in the top acting categories.
Overall, there were some surprises, some unfortunate omissions, some head-scratchers and a fairly respectable number of intelligent choices among the nominations.
