“Not only the lives but also the food of the residents of Tiszafüred is greatly influenced by the River and the Lake Tisza. This is what the Fish Days Festival is all about. Offering not only tasty dishes made of fish, it also offers entertainment alongside events of a traditional and sporting nature.
Ordinarily the fish soup contest (halászléfőző verseny) takes place on the second day of the Fish Days celebration. Contestants and their guests have the opportunity to become familiar with the flavours typical of the region and may also taste fish roasted on a spit or cooked in traditional kettles (bogrács) over the fire.
During the gastronomic contests a volleyball championship is held on the beach. Complimentary to the entertainment programme there are also stands with handicrafts and gifts, folk dance, modern dance and majorette presentations, along with concerts and discos.”
